Livingston and the girl from the south

It did not matter where we came from, nor does it matter the background that we have. Yes, this is true, but then, the story is not the same for everyone else. Livingston was born in 1999 in a small Village in some part of the world. Should I tell you about this place? Rumor had it that it was somewhere in Africa. Maybe, Lesotho.

How would I know? I also came across the story in the wind. It was said that he and his parents lived in a small cottage somewhere close to the riverbank. And this place was said to be very far from people. So, I want you to take a pause and wonder how this little, pretty, handsome, bouncing baby boy would grow up.

Do not be sad for him yet. Although the boy’s childhood was nothing when it is compared to the childhood of other children, Livingston still enjoyed the company of the natural environment around him. His parents were traders, and the meagre income they earned, they took care of him with it. After all, he was the only child they had after so many years of hate speech from their family members and friends.

Mr. and Mrs. Dzehu had met each other in 1972 when they were in their youthful age. At first, they both lived in the main town, and their parents were successful people. Livingston's father had a gold mine, and for the mother, her father was the owner of one of the big businesses in that town. But these two ended up without having anyone to support them financially.

It happened that the family of his parents had not been on good terms due to a misunderstanding dating back to the times of their forefathers. What was this about? The accounts had it that the two families came from different backgrounds, where their forefathers had a dispute over a piece of land that was rich in nutrients and was good for farming. Initially, the land belonged to the forefathers of his mother, but back then, the family was lacking financially.

Livingston’s father’s great-grandparents had purchased this land, but just for a few years. They had used it for business and had made an unimaginable profit. As time was due for them to return the land, they wanted an extension of their lease, but the other family refused, as they wanted to take over the land and continue the farming business. Livingston’s father’s great-grandparent didn’t want to let go of this land, and for this reason, bribed the chiefs and higher officials in the town and made false claims over this land to have possession of it.

As the years went by, the two families engaged in intense conflict, and the state had to seize the land as it was getting more people involved in this conflict. So you see, Mr. and Mrs. Dzehu did not have to get married in the first place. But the power of love, who can understand its mystery?

They both were sacked and disowned by their families without any property or support, and the two have to suffer the consequences of their actions. Now you know the reason why Livingstons' parents lived in such a place, it is because they were disowned. But the story wasn’t the same for this boy. His parents loved him and sent him to school. He grew kindhearted, gentle, and loving. That is why he met the girl from the south.

When Livingston was 15 years old, he wandered so far into the deep forest. He was not afraid of the dangers of the forest because his father had always trained and encouraged him to fear nothing. On this day, he did not go hunting but was chasing and tracking down a white owl, which he had never seen in his life, in the forest. Following it closely, as he looked for its nest, he overhead a cry. It was faint and far from him, but this wild wailing disturbed him, so he decided to follow the sound of these cries.

You know, if it were some other people, they would walk away, but his gentle and caring nature drew him closer and closer as he came across this girl, Susan, who had fallen into a pit and twisted her ankle.  Yes, she had also followed a sunbird, and that was what led her into a hunter's trap. Who knew which trap it could have been? OR would you say it was destiny that led them there? Do both you and I even have the power to conclude that?

Livingston helped the young lady out and helped her locate her parents. They had just come from a different country somewhere in the world. I do not know what it is called, but the people said it was a rich country and full of opportunities.

The parent of Susan thanked him and visited his home. Susan wanted to take Livingston along, and Livingston did not want to leave his parents behind. One thing led to another, and another to another, so Susan’s parents decided to take Livingston and his parents along with them all the way to the South, the country full of opportunities where this town till date knows nothing about.
